Yahaya Mohammed, a striker for Aduana Stars has stated that his personal objective and goal for the 2020/21 season’s campaign of the Ghana Premier League is to win the Golden Boot for the top scorer of the competition.

According to Mohammed, he would have been crowned the top goal scorer of last season’s League had it not been for the lockdown imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I will have won the goal-king if the league continued and I will win when we begin the new season,” Mohammed said in an interview. “My aim was to win the league title, the goal-king, get a Black Stars call-up and then a foreign move”.

In his interview, he also stated that he has had foreign offers before but again, the pandemic was in the way of this move.

“The foreign offer came, I had the Black Stars call-up, but COVID damaged the other ambitions. Now, my aim is to make sure I win the league and of course, I will grab the top-scorer award”, he added.

He has been set up to join Ashanti Gold on loan for the upcoming season which is rumoured to begin in October. This move gives 32-year-old striker the opportunity to participate in the CAF Confederation Cup set to begin from November as Ashanti Gold will feature in that competition. This will also provide the striker with the chance to compete with other good players in Africa for the top goal scorer in that competition as well.

Mohammed was able to  11 League goals in the 2019/20 season campaign, but was beaten to the Golden Boot by Inter Allies forward Victorien Adebayor, who netted 12 times. He is hopeful that this season will go differently for him and his loan will provide with a fresh perspective as he continues his career in the Ghana Premier League.
