JUST IN: Another Deadly Virus called Hantavirus Killed A Man In China

A deadly virus, known as Orthohantavirus, popularly referred to as Hantavirus has killed a Chinese man in China in the Yunnan Province. The man was said to be on his way to work and fell and died on a charted bus on Monday.

A test on him confirms a positive hantavirus. According to Global Times of China, 32 passengers on board were tested.

An Orthohantavirus or Hantavirus is a single-stranded, RNA virus in the family Hantaviridae of the order Bunyavirales and is spread mainly by infected rodents through their urine, saliva, or feces.

Symptoms of the Hantavirus include fatigue, fever, and muscle aches, along with headache, dizziness, chills and abdominal problems which eventually leads to coughing, shortness of breath and finally death if untreated at an early stage.

Last known outbreak of hantavirus

The last major outbreak of hantavirus was in

Argentina experiences the last major outbreak of hantavirus last year with a record of 11 deaths.

The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed 29 cases of the hantavirus between late October 2018 and January 20, 2019, with women and girls most affected.

While the disease spreads from rats, human-to-human transmission has not been ruled out.

The world is currently battling coronavirus pandemic which was detected in Wuhan China and according to the World Health Organization (WHO) reports has been reported in 189 countries and has infected over 334,981 as of today and killed 14,652 people.
