GHANA- Wednesday, August 5, 2020/–The Court Of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has again postponed the ruling of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer to September 1, 2020.
The case which was postponed for the second time on July 17, 2020 was expected to settle the law suit filed by Osei Kweku after he was disqualified from competing in the 2019 GFA elections.
In a press release sent out by CAS today, it was stated that “”On behalf of the Deputy President of the CAS Arbitration Division, please be advised that the time limit to communicate the Arbitral Award to the parties, pursuant to Article 59 of the Code of Sports-related Arbitration, has been extended until September 1, 2020″
The Normalisation Committee acting as the Elections Committee disqualified Palmer from the race after recommendations from the Vetting Committee.
Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer who is a former GFA Executive Committee member and Bankroller of Tema Youth Football Club was according to him disqualified from the race in 2019 on grounds of “breach of Article 33(5) (c) of the GFA General Regulations and Decision of the Ethics Committee dated the 13th December 2017”.
He has since then contested the decision and still awaits the verdict.
The erdict from the court could nullify the results of the elections and possibly a run off election.
