Ghana: Social Youth Drive Foundation To Construct Schools With Waste Plastic Bottles

GHANA- Thursday, July 30, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/– Innovation in solving problems is the new trend Social Youth Drive Foundation (SYDF) is constructing a school with plastic waste bottles.

THE CLASSROOM IN PLASTIC PROJECT is the first of it kind. The goal is to build several sustainable classrooms for communities with a poor learning environment and also help in reducing and managing plastic pollution in Ghana.

According to the Social Youth Drive Foundation, the classroom block would be constructed out of “waste plastic bottles for kids in the Akaglakope community school in the Volta Region of Ghana”.

The neglected school has been overtaken by domestic animals who share the facility with the students. The bamboo which serves as a wall for the facility is already breaking down and poses a threat to the students. The town cannot boast of a decent facility to house and nurture the young minds.

The Social Youth Drive Foundation has therefore taken the initiative in light of this has decided to take on the classroom in bottle project. The project seeks to create an eco-friendly environment for students to study.

“We are on our way to delivering the first of our ecofriendly alternative learning spaces for disadvantaged children in hard-to-reach communities. We aim at creating accelerated learning and empowerment opportunities to enable these children develop foundational literacy, numeracy and cognitive competencies,” the group said in a media engagement.

The group is however calling on individuals and organisations to support the cause and donate plastic bottles or money to enable them build a school for the Akaglakope Community Basic School.

Social Youth Drive foundation is an organization that seeks to address social issues in relation to culture and education.

Their mission is to bridge the gap between the youth in the rural areas and urban areas making them well equipped with skills that will help them gain financial freedom and also promote culture diversity and tolerance.
