ACCRA, Ghana – Wednesday, May 15, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ –Dry lips are unattractive and can give others a wrong perception. Many people will surely turn away from cracked lips no matter how attractive one may look.
Dry, cracked lips can be caused by hot or cold weather, open-mouthed breathing because of illness or habit, dehydration and even allergy. Dry lips are characterized as looking dry, flaky, sometimes with visible red splits and cracks on the lower lip. Chapped lips also look swollen and painful and may bring about bleeding whenever pressed or mistakenly.
The good news is that it is easy to treat by trying natural home remedies. Some key elements are honey and coconut oil. Honey is a traditional method for healing cracked lips which is healthier and with faster relief.
Historically, a mixture of honey, milk and yeast has been used to treat serious and minor wounds and infections for centuries by Poultices. Honey contains anti-fungal and antibacterial powers used by ancient Egypt, China and Africa. Coconut oil is lighter and also very good for dry lips. I use coconut oil every night on my lips before going to bed.
Moisturise
Honey is a great moisturiser as it hydrates your dry lips to restore lost moisture. With honey, you are sure to be protected from infections because of its antibacterial properties. Brushing your teeth regularly and eating a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, vitamin D and omega -3 keeps your lips moisturised, encouraged collagen growth and prevent wrinkles whiles your mouth looks healthy and beautiful.
How to work it
Usage of honey requires no strict procedures. Use your finger to apply honey ( I add a little drop of coconut oil and any essential oil of my choices like lavender, frankincense or chamomile to the honey) to your lips periodically throughout the day as you would apply lip balm or at night before you go to bed so that the honey can work while you sleep.
Try this for two weeks and see the miracle.
Feed your lips
In addition to honey treatment, drinking plenty of water help dry lips heal. Avoid licking your lips. Also, avoid lip balms or lipsticks without moisturisers.
Exfoliate Lips With Honey
Honey is one of the main ingredients in many cosmetics. To exfoliate your lips, add a teaspoon of honey to two tablespoons of sugar. You can add a little drop of coconut oil and any essential oil of your choice: lavender, frankincense, chamomile to the honey). Stir the mixture to form a paste. Apply the paste on clean lips, and leave it on to dry. After the mixture dries up, wipe it off with a wet cloth.
