The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to officially launch the party’s manifesto on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

According to the party, the manifesto is the second round of its transformational policies which comprise of the one district, one factory initiative, free SHS planting for food and jobs among many others.

Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), insists that the ruling NPP is simply taking credit for a project their previous administration initiated.

The Vice President Dr Mahmudu Bawumia at town hall meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, said the Akuffo-Addo government initiated 17,334 projects in different parts of the country with about 8,746 of them duly completed and work is ongoing for the remaining ones.

At the same event, the party launched a website to enable Ghanaians to monitor the developments of these infrastructural projects. This according to the government, will ensure that there is a proper database to track the progress of the projects.

However, projects which were initiated by erstwhile governments were not stated.

Responding to claims of the opposition that the party has plagiarized projects from previous governments, the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said those claims are mere propaganda.

“I am sure anyone who listened to the Vice President heard him clearly talk about projects which were inherited and completed and then new projects.

“For our colleagues, you notice that sometimes they say we have abandoned their project but when you account for it and say these are projects we inherited and have completed they say you are not giving them enough credit.”

According to the Minister, the government saw it as a priority to first account for projects they initiated and its progress thus far. He also noted that government-provided highlights of NDC projects which they have reviewed and completed.

“We have also raised significant projects which were inherited at the conceptualization stage which we have re-scoped and have gotten better value for money.”
