Tamale Central Mosque Intersection to be closed for 10 Days

The Department of Urban Roads under the Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the closure of the Tamale Central Mosque Intersection area to vehicular traffic for ten days with effect from Saturday, 12th September.

This due to the ongoing construction works by Sinohydro Corporation on the Tamale Interchange project.

The Regional Director of Urban Roads, Kwasi Darko in a statement released on Thursday urged residents of the Tamale metropolis and its environs to bare with his outfit as they go through the construction period of the Interchange.

He said the project team would continue to provide adequate traffic signage to guide and direct motorists on the alternative routes.

Vice President Dr. Muhammud Bawumia as part of his working visit to the Northern Region last week visited the project site to inspect the progress of work. The Engineers assured him of their continuous effort to finish the Tamale Interchange by middle of 2021.

In April 2019, President Akufo-Addo launched the USD 2 billion Government of Ghana- Sinohydro Master Project Support Agreement and cut the sod for the construction of the Tamale Interchange together with the Overload of the Dagbon traditional area Ya-Na Abukari II.
