ACCRA, Ghana – Saturday, May 16, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/–Derrick Amponsah, an excavator operator at Manso Yawkrom in the Amansie West District of Ashanti Region has been arrested and jailed for defiling a 15-year-old student and in the process bit the victim’s clitoris, leading to excessive bleeding from her genitals.
According to the prosecutor, Detective Inspector Stephen Ofori, the victim also suffered broken hymen and the accused also used his fingers, penis and mouth to sexually abuse the girl.
He was reported and arrested by the police. Derrick admitted to the crime and was arraigned before the court where he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and defilement. He was sentenced by the Bekwai Circuit Court for seven years.
The offence of defilement is defined under section 101 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29), as the natural or unnatural carnal knowledge of any child less than sixteen years of age.
Section 101(2) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 states that: a person who naturally or unnaturally carnally knows a child under sixteen years of age, whether with or without the consent, commits a criminal offence and is liable on summary conviction to a term of imprisonment of not less than seven years and not more than twenty-five years.
According to the report, the accused called the victim on the phone and asked her to help him with his laundry. The victim refused to do the laundry. The accused then went to her house to call her.
The victim refused to follow the accused who went back and succeeded in making her follow him. On reaching his house, the accused dragged the victim into his room and defiled her.
